A task force was immediately formed to report to Ke-Fang Duan, a prosecutor of the “Chin” Section of Taiwan Yunlin District Prosecutors Office, to conduct an investigation.

(二)The case was monitored and detected by the task force., Suspect Ruan, a foreign migrant worker, came to collect the packages on May 30th, 2024, and immediately returned to his residence in Erlun Township, Yunlin County. An investigation was conducted immediately thereafter with Suspect Ruan, arrested on the spot. In addition, four missing Vietnamese migrant workers were found at the scene. Suspect Ruan was transferred to the Taiwan Yunlin District Prosecutors Office for investigation in accordance with the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act. The said four missing migrant workers were transferred to and contained at Yunlin County Specialized Operation Brigade, National Immigration Agency, Ministry of the Interior.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau urges employers and human resources agencies to promote law-binding concepts to foreign migrant workers while hiring them, protecting them from being exploited by illegal groups and thus become   accomplices of drug syndicates in committing serious drug trafficking crimes. The Criminal Investigation Bureau will continue to cooperate with the Customs Administration, Ministry of Finance to “intercept drugs at the checkpoint” and strive to combat drug crimes in order to maintain a peaceful and contented lifestyle of the citizens.
